Hunting, Fishing, and Deer Camp
Appearance: Light in color, close to a blonde.
Aroma: The first thing that hits you when you smell this scotch is the tremendous amount of peat, rye, and smokiness. It’s a clean smell, even though that seems counter intuitive given the smokiness but it does smell clean.
Taste: The first hit on the tongue is a little raw. That quickly gives way to a ton of flavor in this scotch. The smokiness and the rye really kick in and make it a very enjoyable drink. The flavor leaves lots to be deciphered during the drink but despite the bold flavor its actually quite good.
Overall Impression: This is an Islay scotch which contributes a lot to it's bold and smoky flavor. That being said, it’s a good bottle. If you are looking for a really mellow, complex, flavor profile then this might not be for you. However, if you are looking for a full-bodied, flavorful drink of scotch then you should really enjoy this one. Admittedly, it might take minute to get used to the boldness of this Scotch, but it has found a permanent place in my home bar.
